"Aus dem Leben eines Rätseldesigner"

Dear diary,
So, here I am writing the first entry into the diary for our website and I’m supposed to tell and illustrate to you about my part in the project…
That is to say that I have been responsible for the puzzles in the game from the beginning. It’s not always easy to come up with new, yet in familiar Broken Sword style created puzzles, which are tough enough for you people to crack and I know that you guys are used to some tough puzzles…
And that’s why I often sat at a single chapter for hours to visualize the current situation in the game and to put myself into the scene mentally (you should try that yourselves sometimes, it is really fun :)) and ask myself the question: what could happen next? Which problem could arise before I can go through this door? What would George Stobbart do in this situation?...
And it actually worked… In my head, the images began to form and move and the characters began to speak. It just became a little bit creepy when I thought: “Hey, he just really said that!”. I formed clear pictures of how the finished scene should look. Yes, perhaps one needs a certain amount of mental derangement to be able to perform this task well. I consider myself lucky that I possess enough of it.
And that’s enough about my work as puzzle designer.

A couple of months ago, I became the second project leader of the entire team. I’m certain I was chosen as such because, like Foxhunter, I’m one of the founding members of the project and have witnessed every change so far, whether it was a change of team members or a change in the development of the project.
My work as a project leader is mainly to find new people for the project and to make sure together with Foxhunter, that everybody is doing his or her work properly. That’s certainly not always an easy job, but it is very fun, because you really get the feeling that you are moving your project forward; which will possibly lead to our game becoming a success…
But before I start hypothesizing about the future, I’ll leave it at this because my fountain-pen is almost empty ;-) and I have more work to do,

… so that ALL OF YOU OUT THERE will be able to hold in your hands the best adventure game of all times!!!

That’s all for now…
Marius
