"Neue Studie: Modeller sind einfach krank"

Good morning old dusty diary

*removes dust from cover*
It’s been a long time since I have retrieved you from the shelf and written something into you :P, yet now I want to share with you all that has happened, since much has changed. Now I’m sitting behind my computer day after day, night after night, gray morning after gray morning to be part of something great. :)

But let’s be serious! Once again I am sitting behind my computer late at night and I can choose between school stuff (on the right) and the monitor (on the left). “Hmm”, I think to myself, “just a little bit more on the computer, but then I’ll really have to start working on my schoolwork”. Yet, somehow, after the hand of the clock has made a few more rotations around its axis, my sight wanders away and I stare at my schoolwork in perplexion.

Damn. Oh well and I go back to my monitor. It’s not easy to be faced with the same torments day in, day out.

Surely you’ve had thoughts like these as well. But let’s get to my job …. Imagine that you’re trying to model a city or a landscape and at some point it goes … zing … and suddenly you’re standing in the middle of it!

It pulls at you like a wake and no longer aware of what’s happening around you, you’re living in another world, in a world that enchants you.

And you think about what should go into that corner in that meadow and suddenly a huge tree has emerged from the ground. If this hasn’t happened to you yet, ask other model designers, they will confirm my story.

Graphics to me aren’t just art, it’s more, it’s a “feeling of life” in which I can prosper.

Other people have that same feeling with soccer (Oli Kahn :P) or with something else.

But then an alarm clock wakes you from the dream … You look into the mirror and see that you look like hell.

Oh well, off to school and the first question arises: “I don’t want to know what you did last night” ..

Answer: “Shut up – Can’t you see I just haven’t slept or have you still got your blinders on?”

Hmm… well, one has these moods when one hasn’t had any sleep. :)

Of course I could never make it all by myself. But then I do have an old school friend by my side: Mr. Kaese. I think that in the one year that we have now been working together on projects and sessions, to simply let loose our imagination, we’ve learned a lot from each other and that has drawn us closer together. =)

One of our first goals is and was the trailer that will now soon be made available to you. I must say that I have never had so much fun, but also so many mixed feelings about something. You must realize that we are creating 3D objects that are reshaped so that they both keep the form that was intended and at the same time are still recognizable; we are building an entire world. It’s just like in the old times … Everyone still remembers the “Lego”- building blocks or the model airplanes. They were awesome!!! Stone was put upon stone until things arose that you had never held possible.

After that of course the entire world gets its colours and finally everything gets animated. Just like every other movie.

That is a lengthy process, but somehow it seems like only a few hours. In the meantime I have memorized every tree and every single grass halm. If I spend some more time on this I’ll even have names for them. ;P

But one should not neglect the dark side of it all, where you were ready to throw it all away. But that’s all in the past … we smoked one and we went back to our computers and continued our work. :)

But feelings aside :), I think I’ve chattered too much again …

What I still would like to say however … many thanks to the awesome team (I’m proud to work with you) and also to the fans … who also buy adventure games, instead of the bestseller FPS games. :)

THANKS and keep it up, because YOU give US the strength to go on!

Bye,

[H]aggi
